Hiwott was born in Ethiopia and came to the United States in 2013. Her passion for doing hair began when she was in high school with an interest in doing everyone's hair for fun with spending time with her girlfriends. Prior to coming to the U.S. she owned her own salon in Ethiopia for 5 years. She began her career development in America by attending cosmetology school and joined the Salon Jean team in 2019.
